For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Primary Role_ Responsible for using GIS to create and maintain spatial and attribute data as well as lead QAQC initiatives and reporting for American Water GIS data. _ Key Responsibilities_ * Uses GIS to create and maintain spatial and attribute data following standard operating procedures and GIS editing best practices. * Responsible for mentoring/training GIS Technicians on water and wastewater network structures; assist Technicians in applying learned knowledge to create and maintain American Water GIS data, as well as proper editing techniques and workflows and interpreting and processing source GIS inputs. * Assist with the development and upkeep of processes and procedures (QA) that aid in providing quality GIS data. * Responsible for configuring and executing Quality Control checks, as well as reporting on quality issues discovered. * Continue to develop expertise in GIS. Participate in workshops, training, or vendor presentations introducing new/evolving GIS, with a focus on QAQC of GIS data. * Assist in development of GIS standard practices and procedures. Participate in user committees within AW for sharing GIS expertise. * Adhere to and support standard operating procedures and GNSS best practices. * Proactively provide active feedback to state GIS lead, as well as providing and soliciting input and feedback from other team members. * Performs other related duties as assigned. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Ability to conduct thorough review and evaluations, render and implement timely decisions and recommendations. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. * Strong level of understanding of water and wastewater network structures and can apply that knowledge to creating and maintaining American Water GIS data. * Solid foundation of GIS methodologies, Esri software, geocoding techniques, data model formats, and data conversion practices. * Knowledge of GIS workflows, including desktop mapping, editing, QAQC, and web and database applications. * Familiarity with working in a versioned network environment. * Strong level of understanding of how to interpret and process a variety of source GIS inputs, to include GNSS data, construction as-builts (CAD and PDF), field sketches/comments (web submitted, paper, and/or verbal), and tabular data. * Basic level of understanding of QAQC for GIS data, to include industry best practices and knowledge of available Esri QAQC tools. * Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS suite of Products, specifically ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro with a focus on creating and editing GIS data, as well as QAQC techniques and best practices. _ Experience/Education_ * Associate’s degree or related experience. * Minimum 3 years’ experience with GIS.
