Job Description

We are looking for an EMS Modeler to perform job responsibilities within the Energy Management System (EMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Support Department maintaining 3 primary applications (SCADA, Network, and Advanced Applications). This position will be a full-time , fully remote , long term contract opportunity.

What You’ll Do

  • Work within an IT support team to ensure world class EMS and ADMS systems for use by multiple operating companies

  • Build user interfaces that are used for real-time systems

  • Perform daily engineering and design activities at various technology layers primarily focused on: SCADA database modeling - Creating and maintaining SCADA electrical models to represent multiple operating companies, Network modeling, and Display generation/changes

  • Maintain ICCP tags/Object IDs, data parameters, and mapping to the relevant SCADA or Network Applications

  • Manage ICCP permissions/access for transmission and generation companies to telemetry as needed for new equipment, retired equipment, or other changes

  • Work with external companies to test data points

  • Use a staging/QA system to thoroughly verify the accuracy, quality and reliability of the data before progressing to production environments

  • Propose and implement methods or processes to drive higher quality control of SCADA/Network modeling

  • This position may, after sufficient training and time, include the request to take reasonable 24x7 on-call shifts to support EMS Support’s mission-critical business

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, Computer Science, similar engineering degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong experience in EMS SCADA and Network Modeling such as SCADA point mapping and upkeep, ratings updates, display drawing/changes

  • Experience in managing and prioritizing incoming requests and outgoing work for improvement, additions, or corrections to the EMS/ADMS

  • Strong experience with real-time systems, real-time architectures, and databases including modeling and revising data through software applications (GE e-terra source preferred)

  • Working knowledge of databases and real-time system applications for critical systems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate customer support

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to determine or anticipate customer needs and respond positively

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to both learn and take direction from team leads and/or senior leadership

  • Self-motivated and determined when interactive guidance is not available

  • Pride in work and willingness to learn to be valuable for the team, even when not seen

  • Ability to work independently

  • Problem solving aptitude

Preferred

  • Understanding of Agile based approach to software development (SCRUM experience a plus)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
