Description
Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Network Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Cisco firewalls, routing, switching, and scripting to automate network tasks. This role also involves supporting, optimizing, and troubleshooting network environments for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, configure, and maintain Cisco firewalls (e.g., ASA, Firepower, or Meraki MX), ensuring robust network security policies are in place.
Design, deploy, and troubleshoot routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and VLANs.
Monitor and analyze network performance using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or Wireshark to optimize performance and reliability.
Automate network management and configuration tasks using scripting languages like Python or tools such as Ansible.
Implement and maintain site-to-site and remote-access VPNs for secure connectivity across locations.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to monitor and respond to security incidents, applying updates and patches to mitigate vulnerabilities.
Configure and manage wireless networks using Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) or Meraki access points.
Support and manage network authentication protocols, including RADIUS and TACACS+, for secure user access.
Ensure disaster recovery readiness by maintaining and testing network failover and backup solutions.
Document network configurations, change requests, and procedures in line with company policies.
Provide technical guidance and support to end-users and IT teams on network-related issues.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in network administration or engineering.
Proficiency with Cisco networking equipment, including Catalyst, Nexus switches, and ISR/ASR routers.
Strong knowledge of network protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and NAT.
Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and management, specifically Cisco ASA and Firepower Threat Defense (FTD).
Proficiency in scripting for network automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Familiarity with SD-WAN solutions, preferably Cisco Meraki or Viptela.
Knowledge of IT service frameworks such as ITIL for change, incident, and problem management.
Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and hybrid environments.
Ability to analyze packet captures using tools like Wireshark or tcpdump.
Preferred Skills:
Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE in Routing and Switching or Security.
Familiarity with Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Experience with NAC (Network Access Control) solutions, such as Cisco ISE.
Proficiency with infrastructure monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, ELK Stack, or Nagios.
Understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware NSX or Hyper-V.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication for documenting systems and working with cross-functional teams.
Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to dynamic project requirements.
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and learning.
Work Environment:
Onsite or hybrid work model depending on project needs.
Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for maintenance or urgent support.
