Summary You will serve as a MARINE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT (N3) of MSCLANT REP CHARLESTON. Responsibilities You will serve as the senior Marine Transportation Specialist. You will control, coordinate, and expedite the movement of vessels utilized in accomplishing the mission of the COMSCLANT. You will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supporting dry cargo and tanker operations under MSC (Military Sealift Command) control within the assigned area of responsibility. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the MARINE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST, GS-2150-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience coordinating, monitoring, and supporting dry cargo and tanker operations; Experience with cargo loading and its effect on ship stability calculations, stow planning; Experience with cargo stow planning and securing of commercial cargo. Education Additional Information The employee works in areas with moderate risk discomforts that require the use of special safety precautions. Employee's everyday duties revolve around container yards, warehouses, and onboard ships that require vigilance. Employee must wear protective equipment and clothing to prevent injuries or accidents while monitoring cargo operations. When not involved with ships, employee works in an office setting.
