Job Title: Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Security Clearance Required: Secret

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. The ISSO will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems while complying with federal security regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats to information systems.

  • Monitor and analyze security events and incidents, providing timely responses and mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure secure system architecture and design.

  • Conduct regular security training and awareness programs for staff to promote best practices in information security.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the System Security Plan (SSP) and ensure compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

  • Coordinate security audits and assessments, providing documentation and support as needed.

  • Stay current with emerging security technologies and threats to provide informed recommendations for enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in information systems security or a related field.

  • Hold a Security+ or equivalent certification

  • Strong understanding of security frameworks, including NIST, RMF, and FISMA.

  • Experience with security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption methods.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Certifications (preferred):

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
