Eagle Harbor Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Writer to support EHS and our government customer. This is a Remote opportunity. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce high-quality technical documents for a server administrator audience, including deployment requirements, user manuals, installation guides, issue papers, and other documents to support the development of custom enterprise software.

  • Must have experience not only re-writing documentation written by others but also experience writing (for example) installation guides by actually performing the installation.

  • Assist development teams to produce documentation for a software developer audience in association with the agency Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including system requirements, software design specifications, technical specifications, "best practice" guidelines for application developers, and documents (that include code) that show developers how to enable user-facing applications to communicate with non-user-facing components.

  • Contribute to documents for a high-level business decision-maker audience, including (but not limited to) comprehensive and executive-level technical summaries, and justification-of-purchase requests.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Write technical documentation required to support development efforts.

  • Editing documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency, to improve structure, and to ensure professional editorial standards are met.

  • Attending meetings and/or interviewing subject matter experts engaged in software development projects to acquire and synthesize information to develop technical documents required.

  • Establish and adhere to standards for various technical documents.

  • Write supporting end-user documentation (help documentation, quick guides, etc.).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (a degree in Computer Science desirable)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical writing

  • Candidates without a college degree will be considered, but must have at least 6+ years of relevant technical writing experience

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • A proven track record of producing high-quality, complex, technically accurate documentation about rapidly changing technology.

  • Experience documenting enterprise level desktop solutions/applications

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly come up-to-speed in new technical domains.

  • Strong data gathering and analysis skills, including ability to interpret and take actions on ambiguous/complex areas and business-related data in order to assist subject matter experts.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Professional skills including Word, Visio, and PowerPoint

  • Strong skills in Adobe PDFs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Facility with remote work tools, such as Teams and other collaboration tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work independently and collaborate with multiple teams

  • Exhibit willingness to share ownership of work and value transparency

  • Able to handle high volume workload in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent follow through and accuracy skills

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

Desired Skills:

  • Some HTML 5 knowledge

  • A proven track record of proactively identifying and solving problems

  • Familiarity with IT-related artifacts, such as architecture diagrams, use cases, activity diagrams, etc.

  • Self-driven and independently committed

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.
