Technical Writer / Publications

Job Summary:

This role reports to our Manager of Technical Publications, located in Chandler, Arizona. You will create and publish technical content such as data sheets, whitepapers, graphics, and installation/operation manuals to support existing and new product introductions. You will be responsible for all aspects of commercial technical publications production while ensuring all content is focused, easy to interpret, well-organized, and of the highest quality. This is accomplished by collaborative integration with program and functional teams, obtaining a deep understand of products and field procedures, application of superior written communication ability, and expertise with authoring and media tools.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Author a variety of technical communications for Array solar trackers including but not limited to:

    • Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manuals

    • Whitepapers, datasheets, position papers, and formal customer letters

    • Work instructions for field operations

  • Interface directly with program/functional teams and subject matter experts to extract information required for distillation into concise, actionable technical communication

  • Lead reviews of authored content with stakeholders, iteratively revising as required, to obtain final approval

  • Determine and maintain optimal scope of documentation required to satisfy each service request

  • Support and collaborate with other organizations outside of Engineering such as Marketing and Program Management – author, identify, and/or supply pertinent media/information

  • Ideate and develop tools/mechanisms/procedures to expedite or enhance content authoring processes

  • Maintain existing product library and assist with optimization or optimization efforts as necessary

  • Develop multi-media / graphic content as necessary

  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Technical aptitude: ability to understand technical concepts and transform them into accurate but easy-to-understand, concise explanations for general audiences

  • Experience with electronically controlled mechanical systems; R&D, Engineering, or Manufacturing functions

  • 1+ years of experience with technical publishing software – Adobe Framemaker, PTX Arbortext, etc.

  • 2+ years of experience in Technical Publications or a related function

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products, SharePoint and PDM systems

  • 3+ years of experience with technical illustration and graphic design toolsets – Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail, commitment to consistency and accuracy of authored products

    Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the solar industry

  • 5+ years of experience with:

    • vector-based illustration in Adobe Illustrator

    • 3D asset manipulation and vector export in SolidWorks

    • 3D rendering/animation (Blender) video editing / motion graphics

    • technical illustration in SolidWorks Composer

  • Bi-lingual: written and spoken in English and Spanish
