Egan Company Electrical Estimator Intern - Summer 2025 in Champlin, Minnesota

Join Egan's Electrical Construction team this summer as an Electrical Estimator Intern and gain hands-on experience working with a wide array of Electrical Projects. In our summer internship program, you'll work alongside professionals in the industry while also engaging in events just for interns, including a jobsite ride along, Insights Discovery Workshop, mentorship opportunities, and more! Our internship program lasts 12-weeks, with flexible start and end dates to meet the needs of your school and extracurricular schedule. Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Electrical Estimator Intern include but are not limited to the following: Assist senior staff by observing, learning, and doing the following: Manage projects from start to finish Estimate jobs; assist with takeoffs and entry Develop and foster relationships with suppliers and subcontractors through quality performance of work and great communication. Collaborate with the project team to plan, set up, and manage estimating projects. Promote a positive safety culture by following Egan's safety policies. Participate in construction document analysis to develop clear and consistent interpretations. Compose and edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures and assist with change orders. Build strong internal partnerships; work collaboratively with other Egan groups to support Egan's Mission, Vision and Values. Actively participate in Egan's Summer Internship Program and activities. Perform additional duties and assignments as requested/needed. Visit jobsites and customer sites regularly. Review understand customer contract drawings and requirements. Participate in pre-bid client project meetings and pre-bid production meetings. Generate a project takeoff to serve as the basis for a cost estimate. Build a cost estimate using the Accubid Anywhere. Solicit and coordinate subcontractor proposals and apply techniques to determine best price based on risk and scope. Complete a full scope of work document for the salesperson to use for sales proposal generation. Learn our products and production processes by spending time in our plant. Requirements: Currently pursuing a two or four year degree in Construction Management, Electrical Construction, Electrical Design or related field. 0-2 years of construction and/or general business experience. Travel to jobsites and client sites may be required. Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding organizational skills. Courteous, professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated. Anticipates and adjusts to changing priorities and methods. Willingness to learn new ideas and concepts; takes on new tasks and challenges. Excellent MS Office and Google Suite skills and ability/desire to learn new software systems. Working Conditions: Performance of duties will mostly be in the Champlin office with visits to job sites as needed. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements. Climbing ladders/stairs, uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting are frequent needs.
