Birkeys Farm Store Corporate Technical Trainer in Champaign, Illinois

Position Summary: Leads company initiative to strengthen our introductory and continued education efforts for our service technicians. Implements and drives technical training plans for all our location’s service departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to provide basic, intermediate, and expert training – Basic troubleshooting to advanced diagnostics.

  • Determines course content and objectives.

  • Provides training schedules, agendas, and curriculum.

  • Prepares training materials and training session in groups or individually.

  • Become CNH accredited to be able to provide in-house CNH training.

  • Assists location Service Managers in identifying training gaps to help build annual training plan.

  • Works with each location service manager to ensure they are tracking toward all OEM service standards.

  • Evaluates technicians and identifies areas needing improvement.

  • Onboards and educates new technicians on basic KPIs, basic tooling, and any digital tools assigned to them.

  • Communicates OEM training requirements for service, sales, parts, and precision farming and provides monthly tracking.

  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.

  • Establish an in-house training program for individuals looking for a technical career pathway by means of on-the-job training.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience :

  • 15 years + mechanical/technical background preferably in the heavy machinery industry

  • Experience with constructing lesson plans and working with students.

  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to understand and work well with employees varying in skill level.

  • Highly adaptive and flexible to all situations and needs.

  • Acting as a mentor and engaging students/employees in on-the-job learning

  • Ability to get around the dealership and grounds for various tasks.

  • Ability to tolerate up and down movements with bending or stooping including reaching above and below shoulder height with arms and hands.

  • Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to operate equipment or other power equipment, as necessary.

  • Must meet health assessment requirements.
