Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Accounting Manager is to lead and oversee the accounting team, ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, comprehensive financial reporting, and adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reports results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
Lead and oversee monthly closing activities and financial reporting.
Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong management and supervisory skills.
Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and oversee performance of Accounting team.
Interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
Master’s degree and/or CPA strongly preferred.
Prior experience with SAP preferred.
6+ years’ experience in accounting/financial reporting.
Spanish fluency strongly preferred.
