Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe, Inc. HVAC Technician III in CHAMBERSBURG, Pennsylvania

As a member of the Martin's family, The HVAC Technician III is responsible for installing and repairing drain lines and plumbing fixtures. Also this individual works with refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The HVAC Technician I openly gives and receives truthful feedback, shares helpful knowledge with teammates, goes the extra mile, and represents Martin's by being an ambassador of superior quality and service.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties as assigned.

 

  • Drills holes and installs mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building.

  • Screws, bolts, rivets, welds, and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes.

  • Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system of premise.

  • Pumps specified gas or fluid into air conditioning system.

  • Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components.

  • Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems.

  • Installs wiring to connect components to electric power source.

  • Inspects and prevents weakening of structures resulting from installation of pipe.

  • Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.

  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.

  • Cuts and threads pipe.

  • Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.

  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.

  • Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.

  • Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.

  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, hot water tanks, and water softeners.

  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.

  • Installs or repairs water, steam, gas or other types of pipe and pipe fittings.

  • Records operational data and meter and gauge readings on specified forms.

  • Collects daily water samples for borough officials.

  • Responds to "call-in" request for service.

  • Works flexible hours to meet project/task deadlines.

  • Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

  • Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED;

  • Zero to two years of air conditioning and commercial refrigeration service;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to attend Ammonia Operator I & II classes.

     

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Usage Certification required.

  • Efficient with Solder using 95/5

  • Efficient with Industrial Power Tools

  • Efficient with Silver Soldering
