Responsibilities As a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator, you will perform the following duties: Install, diagnose, and make repairs on a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems such as walk-in coolers, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, attic and evaporative fans, and other equipment of comparable complexity. Install, repair, and maintain a variety of domestic heating equipment and systems such as oil fueled heaters, hot air furnaces, heating boilers, and other systems and equipment with similar heat sources, controls, and circulating methods that are usually uncomplicated and do not have complex maintenance requirements. Follow scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and routine servicing of mechanical equipment such as valves, compressors, motors, centrifugal, macerator, and air lift pumps, automatic controls such as electrical relays, time delay switches, and pump start-stop switches. Apply established procedures and techniques to fabricate, install, modify, maintain, and/or repair electronically controlled industrial equipment such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Proportional, Integral, and Derivative Control (PID), Telemetry Systems, Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Transducers, and Software Products that are of limited design and functional complexity. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work weekends and overtime. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 4 nights per month. Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another. Physical Demands: This position requires heavy physical effort to constantly reach, bend, turn, and move hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls when operating the equipment and attachments. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the incumbent is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: Work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on rolling surfaces and construction sites. The incumbent is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. He/she is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are not suitable for telework.
