Upstate Cerebral Palsy Student & Family Support Specialist in Chadwicks, New York
Description
Pay $25.00 - $34.00 an hour
The Student and Family Support Specialist is responsible to provide mandated IEP counseling through individual, group, and/or family work, provide crisis counseling for students or families, complete all records and reports, serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provide parent training and consultation, act as a liaison with families and program, and ensure compliance with state, governmental and agency regulations and operating standards.
Core Responsibilities
Be an expert and champion in evidence-based practices for students with complex developmental disabilities.
Evaluate appropriateness of counseling services using Counseling Services Readiness Rubric.
Develop treatment plans based on ABA/Evidence Based Practices, make recommendations for IEP counseling services to CSE, provide counseling for students as mandated by their IEP, and evaluate and document progress.
Provide safety assessments and crisis counseling to students and/or families.
Facilitate developmental and social history reports from parents/guardians.
Update the psychological assessment at least annually and as needed.
Promote involvement of family, guardian, caregivers and/or significant others in program activities and student goals.
Provide parent training and/or parent support groups.
Provide assistance to the student’s families/guardians to community resources.
Serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, participating activities that may include meetings, trainings and committees.
Complete all documentation in compliance with state, governmental and Agency Regulations and operating standards.
Provide after hour/on call coverage for the program participants.
Provide home/community visits as needed.
Qualifications
Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or similar applied clinical degree.
NYSED certification preferred.
2 years experience, 5 years preferred.
Valid NYS drivers license.
