This advertisement is for an SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located in Region 1 in the Field Office.

Salary: $49,584.67 - $62,792.25 Annual Range

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the department’s reentry initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the department’s commitment to reentry efforts for offenders while maintaining a professional demeanor. This position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. This position is exempted under F.S.110.205(2)(x) as supervisory. As a supervisor, this position communicate with, motivate, provide or coordinate training, evaluate employee’s work, plan and direct the employees’ work, and has authority to hire or recommend the hire, transfer or discipline subordinate employee.

  • This position supervises MIS Services field staff as assigned that performs data processing functions for Region I, providing support at multiple sites, including Major Institutions, Community Corrections facilities, Regional Office, and other Department or related sites. The incumbent is responsible for computer equipment including the installation and post-installation support for computer hardware and software on distributed networks, local area networks, mainframe peripherals, telecommunications, and related software. This position is not responsible for telephone systems.

  • Supervises MIS Services staff as assigned and is responsible for planning, designing, installation, and post-installation support for personal computers, distributed computer systems, and local area networks. This includes making daily work assignments, conducting site surveys, system troubleshooting and restoration functions,

  • adding/deleting/relocating data circuits, and coordinating computer system repairs. The incumbent is also responsible for evaluation of staff performance and analyzing computer system performance through routine status reports and site visits within the operational area.

  • Serves as backup to the Data Processing Manager for MIS Services, Software Manager, and Local Area Network Administrator for the Region. Supervises the daily operation of Regional local area networks, Regional Computer Support Desk, and MIS Work Order Request system.

  • Supervises operational support and maintenance support for wide area distributed computer systems and personal computers within the Region.

  • Responsible for supervising the maintenance of inventories of data processing hardware, software, and data circuits for the Region.

  • Supervises computer security activities to include the establishment and maintenance of local area network and distributed computer systems users’ security access accounts.

  • Supervises the quality initiatives of MIS Services, maintains records and coordinates training activities for MIS Services staff assigned to the operational unit.

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.

  • Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.
