The Walt Disney Company Lead Software Engineer in Celebration, Florida

We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

This role sits in the Disney Cruise Line organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with key businesses and stakeholders from across the company.

The Lead Software Engineer will report to the Sr. Mgr, Technology

About The Role & Team:

  • This Seaware Engineering & Applications Solutions (SEAS) team consists of multiple studios supporting a portfolio anchored by Versonix's Seaware Reservation System and includes mission critical Disney custom API's, Services and applications. The successful candidate will lead a fast-moving team tasked with delivering cross-platform integrated services and applications for Disney Cruise Line and Disney Adventures & Expeditions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the analysis, design, program, debugging, and modifications of software improvements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs

  • Lead projects that may be used in commercial and end-user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms

  • Work typically involves large or highly sophisticated software programs and systems

  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks

  • May perform or lead testing and debugging of applications, identifying innovative solutions

  • Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications

  • Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications

  • Help engage around the estimation and planning of highly sophisticated scalable projects and their budget allocations

  • You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies so you can make informed recommendations

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of related work experience

  • Comfortable working in an agile environment

  • Familiar with AWS technologies including EC2, ECS, AppStream and Redis, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, microservices and monitoring tools including Open Telemetry and AppDynamics, with a desire to further develop technical expertise in data engineering tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with setting up new Java projects, including pipelines, tooling, etc., from scratch

  • 3-5 years of Oracle Database experience

  • Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)

  • Experience with or exposure to Disney’s Centralized Accounting Platform (CAP) and/or Adaptive Payment Platform (APP) integration

Required Education:

Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
