Job Description

The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for all or a major portion of processing operations in a plant. Oversees production operations (shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management), maintenance, plant engineering, scheduling and personnel. Manages and supervises the work of manufacturing production disciplines in the Operations function. Performs professional or management work regularly across multiple Manufacturing disciplines. Includes activities that cannot be attributed to a defined Operations discipline.

This role will be performed onsite at our Collins location in Cedar Rapids, IA.

What You Will Do:

• Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of assembly professionals. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes teamwork, innovation, and high performance.

• Operational Execution: Oversee the daily operations of the assembly department, ensuring that production schedules are met and quality standards are maintained. Manage resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to optimize productivity and efficiency.

• Performance Metrics & Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track department performance. Analyze production data and generate reports to identify trends, address issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

• Continuous Improvement: Champion and drive lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance process efficiency and reduce waste. Lead initiatives for process improvements, cost reductions, and quality enhancements.

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the department, conducting regular audits and inspections.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless integration of processes and resolve any cross-functional issues.

• Project Management: Lead and support projects aimed at upgrading assembly processes, introducing new technologies, and expanding production capabilities. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence background preferred.

• Prior supervisor leadership experience preferred.

• Knowledge of inventory practices, production processes, quality control, costs, process improvement, and other lean techniques for maximizing the effectiveness of operations.

• Working experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel) and SAP

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
