Job Title: Patent Engineer
Job Description:
Assist in identifying innovative ideas within the organization eligible for patent protection. Research current patented technologies to support clients in filing patent applications. Stay updated on legal developments in the intellectual property field. Perform comprehensive prior art searches in relevant technical domains to identify existing patents and relevant technical literature. Assess inventions or issued patents by analyzing scientific and technical documents, including previously published patent materials. Identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts by systematically breaking down information or data. Identify and assess how innovations may impact products, client bases, and business strategies. Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and/or WIPO via the PCT. Draft detailed descriptions of inventions in precise legal terms. Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements. Monitor and track the entire patent application process from initiation to completion. Attend meetings and collaborate with team members, including engineers, technical experts, attorneys, and management. Coordinate with inventors, clients, external contractors, and attorneys throughout the patent application process.
Minimum Requirement: US Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 12 months of experience working as a Patent Engineer with an in-depth understanding of patent laws and regulations, especially in technology-related sectors. One (1) year of experience preparing technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps for patent prosecution purposes is required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts. Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze and comprehend intricate technologies. One (1) year of proficiency navigating patent web portals such as PAIR, Patent Center, and Espacenet.
Salary: $100,006.40/year.
