Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer works directly with faculty members to build fully online courses in the university's learning management system. The Instructional Designer uses their knowledge of best practices to make recommendations and improvements to online courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support faculty members in the development, design, and implementation of courses by updating them, ensuring they meet SUU's quality standards, and uploading content into the learning management system (LMS).
• Provide consultations in the design and structure of instructional solutions for active and collaborative learning.
• Collaborate with faculty to convert existing course materials to an accessible online deliverable format.
• Maintain current knowledge of instructional design theory, pedagogy, andragogy, and assessment methods.
• Design and/or facilitate professional growth and learning opportunities both online and in-person to improve teaching and learning on campus.
• Event planning for professional development days.
• Participate in departmental Committees.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree In a Related Field.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize as necessary.
• Ability to work as a member of a team, as well as perform tasks individually with little supervision.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to approach problems from multiple perspectives.
• Ability to foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, and productive work atmosphere.
• Ability to apply instructional design theories and methodologies.
• 2-3 years experience in instructional design, preferably in higher education
• Experience translating existing face-to-face courses into the online environment.
• Experience working with an LMS, preferably Canvas.
• Familiarity with any or all of the following technologies: Cidi Labs Design Tools, Articulate, Kaltura, Proctorio, and/or Ally.
