How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Legal advice and follow-up with outside counsels for labor, criminal, social security, privacy and commercial lawsuits.

  • Assist in the coordination and administration of outside counsel firms and Notary Publics,

  • Manage budget and litigation reserves, creation of reports, creating, updating and closing matters in internal systems, following up on litigation matters and liaising with outside counsel (11 law firms & around 500 active matters to date).

  • Managing and processing payments related to litigation matters, such as: enforcement of sentences, settlements, guarantees, and payment of fines, in coordination with Treasury and Controllership teams.

  • Administrative support and acting as the point of contact with outside counsel to receive invoices through internal platforms.

  • Receiving and sorting notices received by authorities, for their delivery to outside counsel; acting as liaison between law firms and AXP LOBs to address and respond to information requirements.

  • Managing retainers with outside counsel.

  • Assist in the negotiation, review, drafting and analysis of contracts to be executed by AMEX, with clients, third party vendors, affiliates and business partners, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Expertise in litigation & coordination of outside counsels / banking, consumer, labor, criminal, commercial and data privacy regulation.

  • Expertise in negotiation, review, drafting and analysis of commercial contracts.

  • Effective interaction with business lines and regulators.

  • Efficient and agile regulatory analysis and implementation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing.

  • Team player, use to work in very demanding environments.

  • Adaptability to change.

  • Business/Legal English verbal and writing.
