Description We are seeking a Bookkeeper to join our team based in Castroville, California. Your role will primarily involve maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, and managing both accounts payable and receivable. This role is in the construction/contractor industry and offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process and maintain records of child support and other garnishment deductions as required by legal documents.
• Ensure all union monthly reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Review owner contracts to determine billing type and produce monthly owner invoices for assigned projects.
• Process vendor invoices, including coding to appropriate projects, companies, departments, and general ledger accounts, and resolve any billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions.
• Maintain and track PTO accruals and other leave programs, and provide clarification for any employee questions related to timesheets, salary calculations, and leave balances.
• Collect and review paper and electronic timesheets and process accurate payroll.
• Process entries related to payroll, benefits, and taxes.
• Monitor and review project expenses to produce time & material invoices to clients.
• Maintain vendor records and perform annual 1099 reporting.
• Assist in special projects and initiatives and provide general support to Controller and Property Manager as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping role within the construction/contractor industry.
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation to ensure all transactions and accounts are accurate and up-to-date.
• Experience managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoicing, payment processing, and debt management.
• Ability to conduct Bank Reconciliations to verify the company's financial records match those of the bank.
• Strong bookkeeping skills, including maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.
• Proficient in Data Entry, ensuring the timely and accurate input of financial information into the company's database.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel to manage, analyze, and present financial data effectively.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures to verify and close out all financial activities for the month.
• Experience in managing Payroll, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks for managing and tracking the company's financial transactions.
