Position Overview:

Maintains, operates, repairs and installs heating, ventilation and air conditioning, boilers, power generation, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, utilities, medical gases, patient care and other equipment and furnishing of the physical plant.

Job Description :

Maintains, repairs and services hospital equipment, buildings and facilities. Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies. Uses hand tools, power tools and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and equipment. Submits estimates of material and labor needed for specific projects and the upgrading of stock.

Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

Fires boilers, operates auxiliary equipment, and control the generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating hot water, and process operations, Tests boiler and cooling tower water samples; assigns proper chemical treatment to boiling and cooling waters.

Records equipment temperatures, hours in operation, fuel consumption, water levels, pressure and voltage.

Repairs articles of furniture such as cabinets, chairs, storage fixtures and office equipment. Repairs loose or broken joints.

Operates, maintains, repairs, installs, recharges and adjust controls of refrigeration, cooling and freezing equipment and system.

Operates, maintains, repairs; adjust controls and vents; cleans drip pans, coils and drains; changes filters of air conditioning equipment and systems.

Installs, maintains and repairs sinks, showers, toilets, water heaters and other plumbing fixtures.

Installs, repairs and replaces piping and fittings for oil, gas, water, steam, air, heating, and plumbing lines and systems for equipment such as compressor, pumps, and boilers.

Repairs, replaces or installs doors, window, ceilings, flooring, wall material s including hardware and attachments; hinges, locks, latches, closers, tile, etc.

Inspects mechanical rooms of the hospital to ensure proper operation of heat, air conditioning and ventilation fans and medical support equipment.

Participates in emergency preparedness, safety and other programs and drills. Provides appropriate aid in any emergency which may arise in the medical center. Tests emergency generators and logs results, reaction, etc. Inspects, repairs, installs and performs safety tests on alarm systems, communication systems, medical and patient equipment and medical gas systems.

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

HVAC-Certified HVAC Technician

DL-Valid Drivers License Class C

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

Sufficient verifiable hospital or major plant maintenance experience

Pay Range is $67.20 to $67.20 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
