Job Description

The Java Client Engineering Team works on the Java platform client libraries and deployment technologies, which includes accessible Graphical UI Toolkits (Swing/AWT, JavaFX Controls) and graphics, imaging and text APIs (Java2D, JavaFX) that enable creation and deployment of rich, graphical user interface applications and runtimes.

Job Description:

We are looking for an engineer to join our team to take Java to the next level. Job responsibilities include working on client graphical UI toolkits, packaging, installation and auto-updating. Responsibilities may include working on graphical UI toolkits, graphics pipelines, enabling support on newer platforms, performance tuning, enhancing our existing implementations, adding new functionality, working on deployment and distribution technologies in the Java Platform Group to enhance the packaging, installation and auto-updating experience on new and existing platforms as well as working on new deployment technologies.

Requirements

  • C/C++ and/or Java coding skills, knowledge of design patterns and coding standard methodologies. An in-depth understanding of multithreading is required;

  • Experience in 2D and/or 3D graphics such as OpenGL/OpenGL ES, DirectX, Metal Graphics and/or in UI toolkit like JavaFX, Swing, AWT, etc;

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing commercial software systems, and diagnosing complex technical problems;

  • Understand of software development processes, life cycles and standard methodologies;

  • A minimum of one year commercial experience in C/C++ or Java, and overall software development experience;

  • Solid written and verbal English language skills;

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment and have a track record of producing high quality results;

Nice To Have:

  • Experience with different operating systems platforms (Windows, Linux, macOS);

  • Working knowledge of Java UI toolkit packages such as JavaFX, Swing, AWT, Sound and Java 2D;

  • Experience working on open source projects, and in particular OpenJDK;

  • Experience with XCode, Visual Studio, gcc, git, XML, XSL, Gnumake;

  • Familiarity with test automation tools and practices (unit and system level automation).

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.
