Jacobs Senior Environmental Planner in Cary, North Carolina

We’re seeking an Environmental Planner to provide senior technical and strategic support for infrastructure projects. A focus of the role will be serving as the sr. technical lead responsible for addressing the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for federal and commercial clients. At a program level, you may manage highly complex or controversial projects. Your leadership will be key to realizing safer infrastructure operations, healthier communities, and protection of our world’s natural resources.
This is a hybrid position aligned to one of our North Carolina offices with the flexibility to work from home, you’ll influence multiple projects, form technical and management delivery strategies to meet client goals, and support the growth of our environmental planning business by contributing to client development and pursuits. You will lead preparation of environmental documents with agencies like BLM, USFS, USFWS, DoD, NPS and Reclamation. Further, you’d participate in capture activities from inception to win by assisting senior level engagement with end customers and partners in collaboration with other company leaders.
You will also be responsible for mentoring our team members to enable career growth and efficient and effective delivery of project work. You’d actively mentor staff to develop business and sales acumen. Excellent NEPA project delivery develops a strong bench of multi-disciplinary staff, which in turn successfully support business development success.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Urban, Regional or Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or other related technical area.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to direct the preparation and provide review of environmental documentation for US federal agencies and commercial sector clients.
Experience and interest in technical mentoring.
Experience leading the development of Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.
Deep understanding of US federal environmental requirements, including the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and Environmental Justice considerations.
Experience and understanding of public engagement requirements and techniques for controversial projects.
Demonstrated project and pursuit management experience, including managing contract budgets, schedules, scope, and large, multi-disciplinary teams.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, landscape architecture, natural resources or other related technical degree.
Experience with the environmental consulting industry managing federal agency projects.
Successful agency client relationships to allow for client development and project sales growth.
