MetLife Audit Talent & Skills Manager in Cary, North Carolina

Summary of Role:

The Audit Talent & Skills Manager reports to the Head of Professional Practices & Talent Resourcing within Global Audit Operations (GAO), supporting all aspects of identifying, outlining, and building talent competencies and audit skills solutions for the Internal Audit Department. This role liaises closely with the Global Learning and Development team to provide subject matter expertise on the competencies and skills required for a successful audit function, while also building and developing the auditor career experience for the department; from recruitment and on-boarding, to training, on the job experiences, and liaising with the Audit Planning & Resourcing team to identify opportunities for development rotations. This role considers how best to consistently develop and leverage the skills across the department and to create a best practice development experience for our auditors. They partner closely with IA leaders to ensure learning needs are known and addressed and elements of the Auditor Career Experience program are understood and reinforced in practice.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Development of, and on-going oversight and refinement of the Audit Roles and Skills framework for the department. Defining the skills required for success within each role in the department.

  • Leveraging the skills framework to develop standard job descriptions and interview forms / questions to ensure a consistent recruitment process.

  • Developing a competitive offering and recruitment outline for potential hires on our learning and development experience in the Audit department at MetLife.

  • Enhancement and maintenance of an assessment tool for the skills framework to be used to assess the current workforce and any skills gaps to be addressed via training and development. Reporting results of this assessment to senior audit leadership.

  • Developing training required to support our current audit workforce in building the skills required for the framework: leveraging external and MetLife sources, as well as Audit Industry bodies.

  • Assessing development programs compared to peer organizations (other large Insurance companies, banks, accounting & audit firms) - constantly seeking to implement best practices and leading practice development experiences.

  • Developing and outlining the induction experience for Auditor and Lead Auditor roles in the department: ensuring a consistent and balanced mix of training, on the job experiences and a breadth and variety of audit experience for maximum development.

  • Consider and outline talent management and career pathing opportunities for existing workforce.

  • Partner with the Enterprise L&D and other functions to leverage all business and wider enterprise training offerings available, including the use of Degreed, MyPath, MyLearning, etc.

  • Partnering with the Audit Methodology team to roll out mandatory audit training to the department, and other audit teams to ensure audit learning and development needs are met.

Required:

  • Education - BA or BS or equivalent experience in Human Resources or other related fields;

  • Language Skills - English required

  • 5-8 years work experience, including at least three years of Project management

  • MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Teams

  • Strong Communication (written and oral), critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytic reasoning skills

  • Ability to execute with precision

  • Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency

  • Works independently, and can manage large-scale projects or oversee multiple, related large-scale projects

  • Client relationship building/Customer orientation

  • Curiosity to continuously learn
