Quality Assurance Coordinator

We’re currently seeking highly motivated and energetic people to join our team as an Quality Assurance Coordinator II at our Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) manufacturing facility in Carson, CA.; a business unit within Howmet Aerospace, a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, is managing external QMS audits, the Internal Audit system, Documentation Control & Corrective Actions systems supporting compliance to the QMS, Customer and AS9100 requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Internal Audit system:

  • Develop internal audit schedules, assign auditors, monitor system performance & provide routine updates to Factory Managers.

  • Coordinate with Factory Managers to identify & train internal auditors within the facility to ensure adequate resources are maintained to guarantee compliance.

  • Manage external QMS audits and Customer systems surveys. Assist area managers as needed to maintain compliance to their documented processes.

  • Manage Document Control system:

  • Review and release of documents in the document control data base. Work with Factory Managers to ensure a timely release of document updates. Provide routine updates of Document Control system performance to Factory Management.

  • Update and augment group Quality Assurance procedures and systems based on QMS/AS9100 updates and/or audit findings.

  • Manage and coordinate the archiving and retrieval of critical build records with outsourced supplier.

  • Manage Corrective Action system:

  • Routinely monitor Corrective Action system to ensure timely response on all open Corrective Actions.

  • Screen all Corrective Action responses for effective root cause determination & mitigation reaction prior to submitting for management review.

  • Monitor CA system performance & provide routine updates/trends to Factory Management.

  • Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, processing & tracking RFA requests and requisition submittals.

  • Preparing monthly Corrective Action Board meetings and yearly Management Reviews.

  • Preparing and updating the 360 Boards with key performance indicator charts

  • Providing support as deemed necessary by management to allow the Quality Department to function efficiently.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Manager.

    Benefits/Salary:

    The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays, and vacation. The salary range for this position is $68K to $75K.

    Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Engineering, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with preventive Quality Systems

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with preventive Quality Systems Management

  • Experience with ASQ Certifications: CQE, CQM, CRE or CSSBB

  • Knowledge of Aerospace product/process specification requirements (AMS, ASTM, etc.)

  • Experience in product and process failure analysis and an understanding of quality principles (SPC, TQM,
