Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as anIndustrial Hygiene Professionalto join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will support comprehensive routine Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring to reduce and control chemical, biological, physical, and environmental hazards in the workplace. This will be a Team Lead position with additional duties such as timesheet approval, call out, shift coverage and assigning personnel job assignments. Ensure compliance with all applicable procedures, policies, contractual/operational requirements, safety guidelines, MSHA, DOE Orders, and local, state, and federal regulations. Perform tasks according to detailed instructions and established procedures. Assist with the development and interpretation of IH programs, policies and procedures used to measure and reduce employee exposure. Analyze data, within a limited scope, and compare readings with pre-determined limits. Assist in processing basic IH analyses. Perform routine calculations according to specific guidelines and formulas. Assist in generating reports, spreadsheets, and charts. Actively participate in safety work groups. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work in above ground and underground (mine) environments. Potential exposure to Work in above ground and underground (mine) environment. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed. Must wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.). Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck, golf cart, gator, heavy equipment). Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.). Must be able to complete radiological work training.

Exempt Salary Grade (30-36)

Minimum Requirements:These requirements must be met to be considered for this positing. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.

  • Master's Degree, or

  • Bachelor-s Degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline with two (2) years of Industrial Hygiene experience, or

  • Associates Degree with six (6) years of Industrial Hygiene experience, or

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of Industrial Hygiene experience is required.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists Threshold Limit Values (ACGIH TLVs).

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Preference given to candidates with Department of Energy nuclear facility experience.

  • MSHA/Mining experience is preferred.

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (or equivalent) qualification is desired

Minimum salary $78,719 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
