Job Summary

The Director, Materials Management oversees the procurement, distribution, and inventory management of supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for facility operations. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing, efficient supply chain processes, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Director collaborates with leadership to optimize supply chain strategies, negotiate vendor contracts, and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and patient care support.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and implements strategic plans for materials management, supply chain operations, and procurement to support organizational goals.

  • Oversees inventory control processes to ensure accurate supply levels, minimize waste, and maintain cost efficiency.

  • Directs purchasing activities, vendor negotiations, and contract management to secure high-quality products at competitive prices.

  • Leads and develops the materials management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to assess supply needs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and enhance service delivery.

  • Utilizes data analytics and reporting tools to monitor supply chain performance, identify trends, and drive informed decision-making.

  • Manages relationships with suppliers, distributors, and external partners to ensure reliable and efficient procurement and distribution.

  • Develops and oversees department budgets, financial planning, and expense management for materials and supplies.

  • Implements and optimizes automated systems and technologies to enhance supply chain efficiency and accuracy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required

  • 7-9 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement required

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in materials management or supply chain operations required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, procurement strategies, and inventory control.

  • Ability to analyze financial data, manage budgets, and optimize cost efficiency.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.

  • Proficiency in supply chain management systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and inventory management software.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to enhance supply chain operations and service delivery.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) preferred
