DICKINSON COLLEGE Food Services Team Member Shift Supervisor - 12 Months in CARLISLE, Pennsylvania
The Retail Operations Shift Supervisor ensures employees follow proper food handling techniques, deliver excellent customer service, maintain good sanitation and cleanliness practices, and that all meal periods provide customers with an enjoyable experience. Supervises and trains all retail staff. Responsible for ensuring staff maintain food quality, safety and appearance, communicates product flow and customer traffic to staff and ensures proper cash handling procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Provides supervision and training of retail employees in performance of daily operations, special events, and activities to include cashiers, line servers and cooks, and student workers to ensure that the retail units operate well, providing excellent dining experiences and service to customers, quality food, clean facilities, well-maintained equipment, and well-supplied service areas.
- Enforces HACCP guidelines, Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations, OSHA regulations, safety policies, and ServSafe standards; ensures the cleanliness of all seating and serving areas; documents HACCP information such as food and equipment temperatures, times of food batches, packing data for food set-ups on the line, e.g. label information for pre-packaged deli salads.
- Assists students with food allergies, special requests and customized preparation, and possesses a working knowledge of food ingredients.
- Assists with controlling food, labor, and general supply costs through use of appropriate controls such as record-keeping, time keeping and labor review against traffic flow or sales, and other documentation processes as assigned.
- Ensures that appropriate policies and procedures are followed by retail employees, and that all facilities and equipment are left in the appropriate condition at the end of each shift.
- Ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed at all times.
- Promotes positive relationships within and outside of the department through effective communication.
High School Diploma or GED
ServSafe food safety protection manager certification. Requires computer skills such as basic skills in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically with Outlook, Word, and Excel. The applicant should also possess 1-3 years of progressive food service roles and experience. DHS courses IS 800 National Response Framework and IS 100.b or IS 100.he, Incident Command System or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
