This is a field based role and can be based in Cardiff, Swansea, or Carmarthen. This role involves frequent travel within the region of South Wales and South of England.

Our Power & Infrastructure Planners are experts who utilise their electrical qualifications and knowledge to support BT’s M&E programmes.
You will be the gateway for customer requests and ensure we have the space, power & infrastructure within our exchanges to meet ours and our customer’s needs.
You will be supporting all M&E delivery programmes, completing a range of activities- capacity management, compiling SOR’s (Statement of Requirements), holding site meetings, matrix management of engineering teams and contractors, issuing Job Packs, supporting project delivery, asset registration and finance management.
Prioritise H&S – To have regard for health and safety, his/her job license, and skills as agreed with line manager. Delivers work with full regard of H&S aspects. Carries out on-site risk assessments giving careful consideration to any hazards before starting work and as the work progresses. Inform manager and record near misses/incidents. Is comfortable challenging and asking others to display their ID passes when on BT premises. Complies with all ISO Audit Requirements, including 14001 and 45001.

What you'll be doing
Execute Work with Autonomy – Execute all required work (allocated and self-identified), considering H&S, despite the challenges and environment. Supporting a team of engineers / planners to prioritises work as required, entering accurate codes and quality notes on appropriate systems (e.g. SIM, SNAP, and other inventory systems), that are meaningful, and which can be used onward by colleagues and customers.
Planning Expertise – Utilise extensive expertise in planning, surveying, and clerk of works activities, occasionally supervising and leading a small team during operations and activities. In addition to this the individual will demonstrate an extensive understanding of a variety of systems alongside H&S considerations when planning. Skill use will be dependent on patch requirements.
Contractor Support – Support and challenge contractors to ensure that BT is receiving value for money in all activities.
Power / Electrical Knowledge – Utilises their extensive power and electrical knowledge to support colleagues and customers with advice, guidance, and assistance as required. Additionally manage A56 for designated locations ensuring faults and repaired and that the site is always safe.
Performance and Development – Drives own performance ensuring they are effectively contributing to team measures, taking ownership of these measures for given area. Required to ensure that mandatory compliance, regulatory, data and informational requirements are maintained and recorded. Works in partnership with line manager to drive personal upskilling and development to need training needs and aspiration. Additionally completes any training requirements as set out by the business needs in the work area (including upskilling to Power) and effectively coaches and supports team members as required.
Standards of Work – Ensures all work on equipment and planning is in accordance with documented procedures and practices as provided by BT and its suppliers, agreeing any changes with appropriate source. Takes ownership of and effectively maintains tool, equipment and PPE ensuring quality and calibration. Additionally fosters a Continuous Improvement (CI) approach to all work across the team, personally contributing to driving performance by engaging to generate ideas, taking ownership of improvements, reporting issues, and demonstrating actions taken to progress these improvements to completion.
Project ownership – Takes full ownership of allocated projects, looking after all space and infrastructure planning, working with power planners if skilled in that discipline. Works with supports and leads teams both internally and externally as required, always ensuring a great working relationship. Takes into consideration and proactively plans for current and future work within sites. Agrees appropriate actions and proactively takes ownership of these to resolve issues. Additionally responsible for the implementation of assigned projects or work packages as required. Presenting and representing business data with internal / external customers as required.
What you'll bring
Mandatory
Electrical/ Installation/ Testing background.
Business expertise in delivering to a business prioritised workstack.
Working with stakeholders managing conflicts in delivering enablement solutions in a timely manner at optimum cost.
Working with internal and external partners to deliver to quality and time requirements.
Self-Starting: The ability to work autonomously without supervision to proactively achieve the desired outcomes, often using their own initiative to drive the actions required from both themselves and wider team.
Ownership: Ability to take ownership of and effectively manage tasks, activities and resources
Communication: Able to communicate clearly and precisely through a variety of methods in any given circumstance or location.
Problem Solving: The ability to deal with a variety of issues and effectively implement solutions as required.
Intermediate ICT Literacy: Confident user of MS Office suite, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (e-mail).
UK Driving Licence.

Coaching: Ability to coach and support individuals in a variety of situations including both technical and commercial.
