Mercy Hospital's 9M Cardiac Stepdown Unit primarily cares for patients who require a higher level of care than a traditional surgical unit. On this team, you will find a unique culture where organization, mutual support and encouragement are integral to efficient and excellent patient care. This role offers a great learning opportunity for PCNAs who want to work in CCU/CVU or Critical Care.

A caregiver in this position works rotating days/evenings from 6:00AM - 2:30PM and 2:00PM - 10:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, coordinating patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) before or within new hire period

• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) considered

• Proficiency in applied mathematics

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification

Physical Requirements:

• Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination

• Extensive standing and walking

• Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

• Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
