Job Summary

As a Scrum Master, you will be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional Scrum team within Technology area. You'll advise and lead the team on Scaled Agile Framework values, principles and Scrum framework to ensure that the team is fully functional, productive, and focused on the Program Increment Objectives.

As a Scrum Master, you will work directly on a large scaled scrum team (up to 10 technology and business associates) to coach and facilitate the continuous improvement of the team. You may be required to oversee multiple scrum teams depending on complexity. The ability to maintain the principles of a Scaled Agile Framework aligning with the business priorities requires systems thinking and influence to drive to results within the epics. Working with the Product Manager and Product Owner, you will support the work of the team by facilitating agile events and ceremonies, such as, daily stand ups, interaction planning and retrospectives.

You will work closely with the Release Train Engineer, and program team to coordinate delivery work and services toward the Program Increment Objectives delivering on business value. Presenting to senior leadership through program increment events is a critical expectation of this role. You will participate in the Agile Release Train events, such as Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect and Adapt workshop, as required by the program.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

  • Work closely with Multiple Product Management, Development, QA and other stakeholders on planning and delivering high quality software using agile/scrum framework

  • Facilitate scrum ceremonies for two or more scrum teams including the daily standup, sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives

  • Understand the product and technology well enough to support the project, identify and communicate risks, and facilitate issue resolution

  • Serve as Scaled Agile Framework champion and coach teams and stakeholders on SAFe principles and the agile mindset and drive home the value of agile/scrum across the organization

  • Leverage critical thinking skills and coach to them through scrum teams to ensure consistency.

  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through consistent communication between team and program level along with critical stakeholders

  • Ensure the team has clear understanding of the quality of software they are developing and is constantly working to improve that quality. Develop and coach the team to drive to enhanced quality.

  • Provide and track agile metrics as it relates to scrum team predictability and productivity with an eye towards continuous improvement

  • Participate in scrum of scrum ceremonies to communicate and mitigate risk, escalate blockers, and drive progress on cross-team dependencies

  • Identifying team improvement opportunities and looking externally for best practices to support continuous improvement

  • Driving a collaborative and supportive team culture through team building and engagement practices

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent experience

  • Required: 5-7 years IT program management experience in software development using Agile methodologies. 3+ years as Scrum Master in Agile environment. Experience with Kanban/process efficiency required. Experience with Agile ALM tools like JIRA, Rally, etc.

  • Preferred: 2+ years Safe experience preferred. Experience driving/leading scaled Agile transformation efforts a plus.

  • Strong ability to manage multiple scrum teams and coordinate with external teams or programs

  • Strong ability to foster and maintain a positive and creative work environment for teams including resolving conflict within the team

  • Ability to influence across levels of the organization including senior leadership

  • Experience with various sized co-located and geographically distributed teams a plus

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Highly energetic, responsible, organized, self-disciplined, self-motivated, able to work with little or no supervision
