Howard Concrete Pumping Co., Inc. Concrete Pump Mechanic Technician in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania

Job Description

Specialty contractor and equipment rental company, with a reputation for late, model and well-maintained equipment, is seeking a full-time Concrete Pump Mechanic for its headquarters in Canonsburg, PA.  The Mechanic must have the ability to perform general maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting on various types of trucks and equipment, especially concrete pumps. This fulltime position will be located primarily at the shop in Canonsburg and in the field, as necessary. The position will report to the Equipment Manager.

 

Requirements

Education:   High School diploma or equivalent, required.  Formal training beyond high school (certification or vocational training in Auto, Diesel, or Heavy Equipment Repair, or like degree) is preferred.

 

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of mechanical experience
  • Welding experience/certification, preferred
  • Previous experience with heavy mechanical equipment, strongly preferred, especially with concrete pumps, heavy duty diesel trucks, and overhead booms
  • Familiarity with and understanding of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, gas and diesel systems
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to read blue prints, hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with computers to look up work instructions, track labor and other tasks as needed
  • Strong work ethic
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Valid driver's license is required. CDL is preferred
  • Ability to travel, at times
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull to 75 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive/physical work while standing and moving around, under, and over equipment while on the shop floor and in the field
  • Perform work outdoors in all weather, only as required

     

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on concrete pumps and other construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty parts, components, and systems
  • Test and calibrate drilling equipment to ensure accurate performance
  • Collaborate with other team members to address technical challenges and minimize downtime
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed
  • Maintain the company service truck, tools, and work space in good condition
  • Overhaul and/or replace engine, machinery, and all other associated equipment
  • Disassemble and assemble engines, machinery and associated equipment and inspect for wear
  • Participate in on-call duties twenty-four/seven (24/7)
  • Assist with other duties as needed
