DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Amsted Rail, Camp Hill, PA plant has a Manufacturing Design/Quality Engineer that will develop and implement procedures for quality control and planning. Additionally, it will provide technical assistance to the Quality Control Department as well as other departments.
Duties and responsibilities * Contribute to the design of Quality Management System (Quality Manual, operating procedures, work instructions, standards, etc.). Ensures compliance to system. * Act as liaison with customers and Camp Hill departments on quality issues to resolve and maintain customer satisfaction. Track and report customer complaints. * Oversees CAR (Corrective Action Report) system for internal departments and suppliers to assure responses are timely and effective. * Supervise hourly resources for Incoming Inspection, Gage Calibration, and In-Process Audits. * Direct supplier development efforts. Monitor/report supplier quality performance and direct certified part program. * Provide support of Supplier Quality for new and existing products using on-site audits, design reviews, control plans, corrective actions, inspection plans, and PPAP's. * Plan and implement Quality improvement projects. Analyzes data and recommend procedures and methods to improve product and supplier conformance. * Trains personnel in quality systems, procedures, and methods such as SPC, NDT, 6-Sigma tools, Weld Certification, etc., to assure product quality. Maintains own knowledge and training. * Participate in internal and external design reviews and support component approval process (PPAP, etc.) Provides gage design support. * Responsible for planning, implementing, reporting and following up on internal audits and customer audits. Facility Representative for all external audits. * Lead auditor for internal audits of Camp Hill Quality System. * Maintain IMI (Incoming Material Inspection) and FAI (Final Assy. Inspection) data check list. * Oversees Non-Conforming Material System. Prepares and evaluates defect reports. * Make recommendation to management concerning budget requests, inspection requirements, staffing levels, etc. * Establish and maintain work instruction for the Quality Control Department.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field. * Experience in Mechanical Design of machine components and systems. * Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications * 3D CAD design skills, ideally CREO. * Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Quality Engineering in a industrial setting.
Physical requirements Must have full range of body motion. Certain operations require repetitive bending, squatting, and full arm extension. Manual lifting, not exceeding fifty (50) pounds may be required. Able to visit various manufacturing environments.
