Confidential Employer Direct Support Professional in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate care and support to individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities and Autism. The DSP assists clients in achieving their goals, promoting independence, and enhancing their overall quality of life. This role involves a combination of caregiving, advocacy, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
Personal Care and Support:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor health conditions.
- Provide mobility assistance and transfer support.
Behavioral Support:
- Implement behavior plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for clients.
- Document behavioral observations and incidents.
Community Integration:
- Accompany clients to community outings, recreational activities, and social events.
- Support clients in accessing public transportation and participating in community life.
- Encourage socialization and inclusion.
Employment Support:
- Assist clients in finding and maintaining competitive integrated employment (CIE).
- Provide job coaching and skill development.
- Collaborate with employers to customize job duties.
Advocacy:
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to services.
- Work closely with families, guardians, and other professionals.
- Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and case conferences.
Emotional Support:
- Build trusting relationships with clients.
- Offer emotional support during challenging times.
- Celebrate achievements and milestones.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and services provided.
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certification).
- Compassion, patience, and empathy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for community outings).
