Responsibilities NON-APPROPRIATED POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: IT Specialist (Electronic Point of Sales) JOB SERIES: 2210 PAY LEVEL: NF- 04 INTRODUCTION: This position is that of an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Electronic Point of Sales) within the Information Management Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp S.D. Butler, Okinawa Japan. This position is responsible for coordination and installation of Electronic Point of Sale hardware and software systems; providing security for all EPOS and desktop systems; providing technical assistance and training to end users. This includes all administrative desktop computers as well as all EPOS systems used for the facility programs within the MCCS Retail and Food and Hospitality (F&H). The work involves analytical and evaluative duties related to the lodging EPOS system with primary knowledge requirements of MCCS EPOS IT infrastructure and EPOS security design principles and concepts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors EPOS performance and conducts diagnostic and detailed analysis of the EPOS system for the assigned programs. This includes but is not limited to: Monitoring the security for Credit Card transactions under the rules and regulations of Purchase Card Industry compliancy. Diagnoses, analyzes, and evaluates system requirements for EPOS hardware and software. Recommends and performs major corrective actions to EPOS systems and makes determination on what equipment gets installed and/or repaired. Uses all collected data to take the necessary steps to reverse negative trends before any future EPOS problems occur. Communicates to EPOS service team leader the assignment, projects, and problems to be solved. Provides on the job training and/or identifies the training needs of the end users in order to accomplish the task assignments. Represents the program in dealing with the Lead EPOS IT Specialist and securing any needed information for decisions from the Lead EPOS IT Specialist on major work problems and issues that arise. Resolves simple, informal complaints of end users and refers others to the Lead EPOS IT Specialist for appropriate action. Makes final inspection on EPOS microcomputer equipment, software and reviews projects list in order to meet the Lodging Program the needs of the assigned programs and MIS EPOS project requirements prior to its installation. Evaluates, coordinates, and/or recommends procurement of EPOS microcomputer hardware and software systems, and computer parts, accessories to the Lead EPOS IT Specialist. Attends technical conferences, meetings, and classes to keep abreast of new EPOS software, hardware, product developments, local application developments, and security standards. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other duties as assigned by Lead EPOS IT Specialist. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Four years of progressively responsible EPOS software, hardware and network experience that demonstrates skill and knowledge of secure credit card transactions, proper installation of EPOS hardware in accordance with MCCS and PCI cash handling rules and regulations, proper reporting for Lodging EPOS system in accordance with all current Accounting Management Office and PCI rules and regulations, secure desktop and network operating systems procedures and best practices as advised by PCI rules and regulations. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of the EPOS technology structure in order to conduct analysis and recommend solutions affecting the EPOS scope of security. Knowledge of and skill in applying EPOS network security policy and principles. Knowledge of EPOS network directories and account synchronization. Knowledge of file systems, share servers, and client/server based programs in regards to EPOS standard practices as it pertains to PCI compliancy. This includes but is not limited to knowledge in database reporting and structure as well as back office server installation, deployment, and administration. Knowledge of EPOS system designs, development, and installation to support MCCS business requirements. Must have or be able to obtain in 12 months of employment, Comptia A+, and Security +. Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification is preferred but not required. Must have or obtain within one year of hire a certification to meet or exceed DoDD 8570.01 IAT level 3 security compliancy. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP). A strong background in customer service in a support role. Skill and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. This position has been designated as a position of trust. The incumbent must be eligible for a Tier 3 (Secret Clearance) background investigation to satisfy IT Level II designation. Appointment and continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of the security investigation. This activity is a Drug-free workplace.
