Insight Global Associate EHS Specialist in Camden, New Jersey

Job Description

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with hazardous waste management regulations, conducting safety training, and maintaining a safe working environment. This position involves working closely with vendors, managing regulatory requirements, and performing various tasks to support our safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Hazardous Waste Management: Understand and implement hazardous waste requirements, including the separation of flammables from corrosives.

  * Training: Conduct training sessions on the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) for managing hazardous waste.

  * Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors to ensure the proper shipment and disposal of hazardous waste.

  * Safety Training: Provide basic safety training for new hires and visitors, covering essential safety protocols.

  * Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including obtaining necessary permits and providing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes and glasses.

  * Accident Investigation: Conduct thorough accident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

  * Task Management: Perform various tasks as assigned, including laminating documents and applying labels to garbage cans.

  * Union Environment: Navigate and work effectively within a highly unionized environment.

Qualifications:

  * Strong understanding of hazardous waste management and regulatory requirements.

  * Experience in conducting safety training and managing safety programs.

  * Ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal teams.

  * Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  * Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a positive attitude.

  * Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.

  * Familiarity with working in a unionized environment is a plus.

Skills:

  * Knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations.

  * Proficiency in safety training and compliance.

  * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  * Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

  * Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  * This position operates in a highly unionized environment.

The role may involve performing repetitive and sometimes monotonous tasks.

Environmental or Engineering Degree/Industrial Hygiene or 6+ years of relevant experience

2+ years of relevant experience with a degree

DOT and Resource Recovery Act - REQUA

Hazardous waste management certification - CPR/First Aid/AED Recovery Certification
