The Accounts Payable Manager/Purchasing Agent performs a variety of duties with the emphasis being Accounts Payable and Purchasing. The role combines the responsibilities of managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely vendor payments, with the task of sourcing and procuring goods and services from suppliers, negotiating pricing and contracts, overseeing both the financial side of paying vendors and the procurement process of acquiring necessary items for the company.
Essential Duties
Accounts Payable Manager functions include reviewing and processing invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper approvals and coding, manage vendor relationships, including resolving invoice discrepancies and negotiating payment terms, oversee the accounts payable workflow, ensuring timely payments to vendors, research paid invoices for departments, prepare and process checks for the Excess Land Sales redemption payments, serve as receptionist for incoming visitors and answer calls, and other clerical duties.
Purchasing Agent functions include creating and managing purchase orders, ensuring accurate specifications and quantities, collaborating with departments to understand their purchasing needs, coordinating with vendors for better pricing, preparing requests for proposals and bids, overseeing all bid openings, managing contracts, and performing other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Training for Performing Essential Functions
High School Diploma/GED required, Associates degree preferred or an equivalent combination of experience and training with demonstrable experience in a position with accounting responsibilities.
Minimum of two years professional work experience in bookkeeping or accounting
Possession of current and valid Alabama drivers license
Ability to be bonded
Must be experienced with Microsoft Office applications and possess excellent organizational and communication skills
