Precision Resource Tool Room Manager in Cambridge, Ontario
Precision Resource is a recognized leader in the development of fineblanking technology. With our more than one hundred fineblanking presses and extensive secondary finishing capabilities we produce millions of fully finished components for our customers every day – on time, ready for assembly.
For our Technical Center in Cambridge, ON we are seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Tool Room Manager to lead our skilled team of machinists and toolmakers and support our continued success in delivering exceptional products and services to our production divisions worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Lead and manage a team of 15-20 toolmakers and machinists fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence over multiple shifts.
Project Management: Oversee and coordinate tool build projects to ensure timely completion while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Communication: Provide clear, consistent updates on project progress to internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring transparency and effective issue resolution.
Operational Oversight: Monitor and improve workflows in the tool room for CNC machining, wire-EDM, grinding and tool assembly to maximize efficiency and improve the delivered quality of service.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and document technical and operational challenges, collaborating closely with team members and other departments.
Apprenticeship Program Leadership: Support and lead the company’s toolmaker apprenticeship program, ensuring trainees develop critical skills and knowledge.
Support: Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support our worldwide efforts to deliver exceptional service to all our customers.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in managing a tool room, preferably in a fineblanking or precision tool manufacturing environment
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience leading multi-shift teams
Strong knowledge of CNC machining, wire-EDM, grinding and tool assembly processes
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with tight timelines
Strong and effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
Experience in mentoring and developing apprentices or junior staff is an asset.
Proficiency in using project management tools and commonly used office software (e.g., MS-Office applications)
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
