Job Title: MIG Welder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder to work in our designated welding station. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading and interpreting welding diagrams, fitting and welding structural steel sheets and tubes, and performing MIG welding up to several feet in one weld with a width of 10mm+. Additionally, the role involves grinding down welds, operating different machines to form metal, inspecting welds, and ensuring that finished products meet weld diagram specifications. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work in designated welding station

• Read and interpret welding blueprints

• Welding on structural Steel

• Perform MIG (GMAW) welding up to several feet in one weld with a width of 10mm+ Grind down welds and operate different machines to form metal

• Inspect welds and ensure finished products meet weld diagram specifications

• Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Skills

• Canadian MIG Welding experience - Vertical, Horizontal

• Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints

• Accurate measurement taking and unit conversion

• Comfortable working in confined spaces (4-5ft diameter cylinder)

• Willingness to submit to background check

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with fitting, machine operating, TIG welding, tack welding, machine parts, and grinding

• Proficiency in blueprint reading and welding diagram interpretation

Work Environment

The work environment is a very large, well-organized, and maintained welding shop. It can get hot inside when it's hot outside, but there are lots of fans and large bay doors open for air circulation. We have a great work culture where everyone is approachable and willing to help.

The available shifts are

Day shifts: Monday - Thursday 6AM - 3PM, Friday 6AM - 12PM,

OR

Afternoon shifts: Monday - Thursday 3PM - 1:30AM.

All overtime is optional and paid at 1.5x after 40 hours and double-time on Sundays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cambridge, Ontario.
