Sr. Site Specialist - Lab Support

Work Schedule

Location/Division Specific Information

Unity Lab Services provides a single source for coordinated lab services, support, and supply management. Our customized service offerings and elite service experts have the flexibility and experience to uniquely address our customer’s laboratory's business needs. Position is located in Cambridge, MA.

Discover Impactful Work:

The position supports the daily support of the Scientific Service Program, enabling the team to consistently deliver high levels of customer service for Research and Development. Responsible for meeting goals and objectives of the customer location, as determined by contractual requirements.

A day in the Life:

  • Order special laboratory supplies and consumables on behalf of clients as requested and distribute

  • Maintain lab signage (for example: lab ownership, ULS support staff, safety related signage, sign-in sheets, waste signs)

  • Perform monthly checks of samples.

  • Perform routine and non-routine activities on chemglass reactors, chillers, KF titrators, pH meters, and Hydrogen generators. Submit work orders as needed for equipment issues.

  • Freezer and Refrigeration Defrosting and Cleaning Work Activities

  • Submit facilities work orders as needed.

  • Weekly mobile phase preparation for chromatography units.

  • Perform routine inspections of lab space areas to ensure general tidiness of area.

  • Clean/decontaminate/sanitize common use hoods on an as needed basis.

  • Participate in upkeep of general lab standards (5S)

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Must possess a minimum of an Associate degree in related field.

Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Attention to detail; technical problem-solving skills; and multi-task

  • Trained in basic laboratory safety.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Proven excellence in customer service skills.

  • Detail oriented, problem solver, promotes a team environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and confident working in systems and databases.

  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to prioritize tasks to support objectives to completion.

  • Ability to establish and develop positive customer relationships.

  • Demonstrate expertise in the ability to identify inefficiencies in any process and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Ability to instantly adapt to a flexible and changing schedule.

  • Good time management and organizational skills

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer locations, in office environment to include cubicles and/or in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations and laboratory environments.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 lbs.

  • May be able to use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks.

  • Personal protective equipment (lab coats, coveralls, hood, facemask, hairnets and/or safety gloves) in certain buildings/areas.

  • Some areas require steel toe shoes, bump hats and/or safety glasses.
