Job ID REQ-10023004 Research Scientist, Cell Pharmacology - CVM Your Key Responsibilities: Support target identification, validation and mechanism-of-action projects, including work with primary cells, human iPSC derived cardiomyocytes, and/or tissues. Devise, develop and perform cell-based assays for drug discovery. Occasionally, you will also employ molecular biology (e.g. qPCR), biochemical and biophysical techniques. Support animal biology and pharmacology studies by developing and performing ex vivo assays. Conduct data analyses and documentation of experiments. Collaborate effectively while working in a matrixed environment. Employ good laboratory, data recording and data documentation practices. Present results in lab and department meetings. Assist in writing research documents and publications. Essential requirements: A recent B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry with 0-3 years? experience in the design, synthesis and characterization of organic compounds for testing in biological systems. This is not a PhD-level position. A comprehensive knowledge of modern organic synthetic methods; medicinal chemistry, chemical biology knowledge is a plus Experience with common spectroscopy (NMR, IR, UV, MS), analytical techniques and chromatography purification systems is required The candidate will work in multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams where good communication skills are necessary A naturally collaborative style for effective drug discovery team participation Curiosity, creativity, scientific agility, and interest in small molecule design, synthesis and optimization, including exploration of structure activity relationships. Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between \$66,000 to \$126,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
