OUTREACH AND EVENTS ASSISTANT, Center for International Studies (http://www.cis.mit.edu/) (CIS), is responsible for planning and executing outreach campaigns and managing events; coordinating promotional activities such as email campaigns, website updates, social media content, and creating promotional materials; and collaborating with other MIT departments and maintaining outreach databases, helping write and edit communications like newsletters and reports.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of experience in events organization, marketing/communications, social media, or related field; demonstrated ability to organize public events; superior writing, editing, and copyediting skills; attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy; ability to prioritize and handle multiple and varied tasks, follow through on work, and meet deadlines; ability to work both independently and as part of a team, interact with a diverse group of faculty, students, staff; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality; patience and professional manner in dealing with the general public, a wide cross-section of the MIT community, and outside speakers and participants; demonstrated ability to deliver social media content and disseminate email marketing using tools such as Constant Contact and MailChimp; solid understanding of strategic approaches and tactics to reach target audiences; and technical proficiency with MS Office suite and willingness to learn new programs and software as needed. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree and MIT experience; experience maintaining and developing websites using a content management system such as Drupal or WordPress; experience with online event and collaboration tools such as Slack, Gather.town, Hopin; and advanced computer software skills including design, video editing and web authoring; and interest in international relations or global education. Occasional weekday evening and weekend work will be required.

Salary range: $ 27 - $29/ hour based on experience and internal equity.
