Position Description

The India Research Center ( IRC ) invites applications for the Narotam Sekhsaria Fellowship for 2025 (https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/india-center/nsfellow/) . This one-year fellowship aims to support early-stage investigators (ESIs) in public health in India to work with and receive mentorship from faculty at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health on a defined research project and gain experience conducting primary research in public health. An ESI is someone who has obtained their doctoral degree no earlier than 2019. As a Narotam Sekhsaria Fellow, scholars will also have the opportunity to avail Harvard’s vast resources such as access to Harvard Libraries, Harvard Chan programs, opportunities to network with other fellows and mentoring by Harvard faculty. Fellows will be based in India and actively participate in the events and intellectual life of the lRC. Participation may include, but is not limited to, grant review, hosting seminars, and engaging with Harvard faculty and affiliates in India. Fellows may travel to the IRC in Mumbai a few times in the year to enhance their engagement with the Center’s activities. Fellows will be mentored by a Harvard Chan faculty in the area of Fellows’ research interests.

Major features of Fellowship include:

· The fellowship will be based in India and for a duration of 12 months.

· IRC will match the Fellow with a faculty member from Harvard Chan for mentorship.

· The Fellowship will also fund two in-person meetings between the fellow and faculty mentor, one each in India and Boston.

· Fellow will receive a stipend to cover living costs, medical allowances, books, and research materials during the Fellowship period.

Basic Qualifications

All applicants will need to have a doctoral degree (received no earlier than 2019), and their area of study should be focused on public health in India.

Additional Qualifications

Fellows should be currently engaged in public health research in India and associated with either non-profit or academic organization.

Special Instructions

Application review will begin on October 1st and will continue until October 31st. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed in November and selected fellow will be informed by December 2. The fellowship will commence in January 2025 for 12 months.
