  • High school graduate or equivalent with one to two years related experience.

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to work as part of a team and be able to effectively interact with a wide variety of constituencies.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills and experience working with the public.

  • Must be able to perform duties with a high degree of speed, accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience with mail handling, metering, and shipping and receiving preferred.

  • Knowledge of Harvard University campus a plus.

Additional Qualifications and Skills: Technology Skills Required:

  • Basic computer skills including experience with spreadsheet and word processing software packages (Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, FileMaker Pro preferred) helpful.

  • Will be trained and expected to use package tracking and mail count software in place at HUMS daily.

  • Will be issued a departmental two-way radio and handheld package tracking device that will be used each shift.

    Special Requirements:

  • Valid State driver’s license required, CDL preferred.

  • Driving history must meet Campus Services standards.

  • Must possess a valid Department of Transportation Medical Examiner Certificate.

  • Will be required to be certified in a number of Campus Service’s Safety programs, including safe driving, safe mail handling and hazardous waste/spill prevention and electric pallet jack training.

  • Annual re-certification or renewal will be necessary.

  • Drives vehicle and delivers U.S. Mail, Harvard inter-office mail, packages and other materials.

  • Will be assigned to multiple routes serving the Harvard Community and will be cross-trained for all delivery routes.

  • Sorts mail and materials at Harvard University Mail centers by truck route.

  • Picks up and inspects U.S. Mail for Harvard University and sorts by truck and walking delivery routes.

  • Delivers packages and other accountable mail and materials to Harvard University offices obtaining signatures from addressees and records using handheld tracking device.

  • Makes special mail and material deliveries and pick-ups as assigned by HUMS Management.

  • Communicates with ’ office and other drivers using two-way radios, and telephone when necessary.

  • Daily interaction with delivery customers, tracking and reporting any issues to Delivery Manager/HUMS Management.

  • Must prioritize deliveries on assigned routes and organize those deliveries according to schedule.

  • Will be responsible for using handheld unit to track volume of mail and materials, vehicle inspections and customer service issues.

  • Performs other duties as required.
