The Talent and Engagement Director is responsible for driving the development of a high-performing, inclusive workforce aligned with our business strategy. This leadership role will focus on building people capability, addressing current and future skills gaps, enhancing employee engagement, and fostering a diverse and inclusive culture where every team member can thrive.

This position reports to the VP Human Resources and is part of the Talent and Engagement team located in Cambridge, UK and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design and implement talent management strategies that build people capability and enable the successful execution of Abcam’s business objectives.

  • Implement, embed and tailor Danaher Talent Tools to align with Abcam’s people capability needs and strategy.

  • Develop and execute a forward-looking people development strategy to address current and future skills gaps.

  • Implement, embed and enhance Leadership DBS programmes to develop leaders that create a high performance culture aligned with our core behaviours (Apply Insights, Instil Trust, Deliver Results, Win as a team)

  • Use people insights and data-driven approaches to improve employee engagement and workplace satisfaction.

  • Create initiatives that make Abcam a great place to work, fostering a culture of trust, recognition, and collaboration.

  • Champion DEI efforts to ensure Abcam is an inclusive environment and a place where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work and reach their full potential.

The essential requirements of the job include

  • Strategic thinking and experience of aligning global talent initiatives with business goals.

  • Expertise in talent management, people development and engagement strategies.

  • Deep knowledge and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to take people with you

  • Proven track record of partnering at the executive (L1) level and leading global transformational change

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

  • Some travel will be required across North America and Asia

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in

  • Broader HR leadership roles

  • Life science or biotech industry
