Position: IT Senior Business Analyst

Location : Cambridge or London (Hybrid, 3 days in office)

The Job

This role sits within the central IT Business Analysis team with a primary focus on digital delivery changes. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will have a track record of delivering high complexity work across entire projects, programmes, and portfolios. You’ll be an inquisitive and strategic thinker who seeks to not only understand the root cause of a business or end user problem/opportunity, but to understand the drivers, asking the right questions at the right time. You will act as a critical friend, collaborating with and enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions based on sound analysis, translating the business's needs to provide the best value outcome for AVEVA, ensuring alignment to strategic and tactical aims.

You will work within the Business Analysis Service Framework to deliver a range of services that support the business in IT enabled change. You will also be encouraged to help support and lead the continual progression of the Business Analysis Service, acting as a champion for it, fostering new relationships to build and grow its use and suggesting new ways of working to ensure it remains aligned to the needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis to understand how a business area works, considering the people, organisation, processes, information, data, and technology.

  • Listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them to enable effective design, development, and business change.

  • Support or host difficult discussions within a project team or with diverse senior stakeholders to build a consensus between them.

  • Ensure new solutions and services meet business and user needs and are aligned with organisational goals.

  • Understand any business and policy constraints that need to be considered and assess the implications.

  • Identify areas for improvement, explore feasible options, analyse the effects of change, and define success measures.

  • Take ownership for improving your own knowledge of business analysis, maintaining an awareness of developing practices and their application, as well as supporting other BA’s to improve theirs.

  • Lead by example within the BA Practice, providing encouragement and positivity in the face of adversity, setting the tone for others to follow.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Business analysis . You can Advise on the approach to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities within a project or programme of work. Inform tactical decision making and help to define longer-term strategic plans. Recommend the approach to options analysis, feasibility assessment and operations, and can quantify potential business benefits. Ensure the proposed solution aligns with business goals and objectives, and business and user needs, and achieves the required outcomes and expected benefits.

  • Requirement’s definition and management . You can Advise on the approach to requirements management within a project or programme. Define the most appropriate requirements management life cycle methods and ensure the requirement can be traced in the design, build, test, tender and evaluation phases. Co-ordinate and review the prioritisation of requirements and engage in the negotiation of solutions to help meet programme objectives.

  • Stakeholder relationship management . You can Lead on communicating with stakeholders, clarifying needs and commitments through consultation and consideration of consequences while focusing on user and business needs. Develop or apply communication strategies to build relationships, using informal and formal channels to engage with stakeholders at all levels and resolving conflict where required. Provide advice and recommendations to stakeholders based on your significant specialist knowledge and experience.

  • Business modelling . You can lead on modelling at varying levels of detail or complexity across a project or programme and manage the effects of proposed change.

  • Business process improvement . You can identify opportunities to improve business performance within a project or programme and assess the feasibility of changes, recommending new approaches.

  • Experience of collaborative working . You can work collaboratively in a group, actively networking with others. Use your initiative to identify problems or issues in a team dynamic and rectify them.

Desired

  • Experience of working within a large multinational organisation/project team.

  • Experience of working alongside system integrators such as e.g. Accenture, Cognizant, and specialist vendors in a delivery environment.

  • Experience in working with software development tools such as Azure DevOps to gather and manage requirements.

  • Experience in working with AVEVA’s key applications and the business processes they support. For sales related processes this covers CRM (Salesforce), ERP (Oracle) and subscription management (Zuora).

Qualifications

One or more of the below qualifications would be desirable:

  • BCS Diploma in Business Analysis

  • IIBA Certified Business Analysis Practitioner

  • An educational degree in a related area to business analysis or equivalent related experience
