SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB’s global network of research and engineering centres. SCR is a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities. We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.

Description & Scope:

You will join the Electrochemical Technologies program and be involved in projects spanning a range of fields including soft matter, interfacial science, sensors, and polymer materials chemistry.

The work will primarily be experimental and will involve application of a range of physico-chemical techniques, both standard and developmental, to study detailed behaviour of these substances under representative conditions of use.

The majority of the work will be lab-based, carrying out experiments as well as performing the analysis and interpretation of the experimental data.

The interns will work within a team of scientists as an integrated part of the team working on on-going research projects. Candidates should be detail oriented, enjoy taking on new challenges and have good writing skills.

Deliverables:

  • Planning and carrying out experimental work under the guidance and mentorship of an experienced scientist

  • Analysing and interpreting experimental datasets

  • Participating in regular meetings to discuss project progress

  • Writing technical reports and presenting to peers

  • Assist with the laboratory housekeeping

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Studying for a Bachelor’s degree (Penultimate or Final Year) in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics or related discipline

  • Basic Data Analysis

  • Good communication

  • Good fundamental Laboratory skills
