Jacobs Wastewater Engineer in Calgary, Alberta

We have an exciting opportunity for a Wastewater Specialist to add to our Water and Wastewater design team in Calgary, AB. Join our team and work alongside our technical experts to assist in delivering high-quality projects to our water and wastewater municipal clients.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work on process and process mechanical engineering design and construction assignments related to retrofits, upgrades and expansions to municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. Your involvement in projects will span across all project phases, including initial environmental assessments, technology reviews, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, and construction and commissioning.

The work will involve developing process and process mechanical design deliverables, including engineering calculations and data analysis, equipment selection, developing contract specifications and cost estimates, producing technical reports and cost estimates, as well as coordinating with other design disciplines and providing overall general project coordination support. Process and process mechanical specific site inspection and commissioning support would be required. Opportunities for project management and business development may also exist. Hybrid work environmental that incudes work from home and work from office once per week.

  • Required bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering.

  • Masters degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering would be considered an asset.

  • Eligible to obtain P.Eng.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in any or a combination of the following: modelling, design, equipment selection, commissioning of systems for municipal and/or industrial water or wastewater facilities.

  • Strong theoretical knowledge of process engineering, and strong data analysis skills.

  • Positive attitude, dependable, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide a high quality of work.

  • Ability to understand project risks, constraints and opportunities, and a desire to work with the team to best meet client objectives.

  • Related or transferable experience with interdisciplinary coordination, project management, business development would be considered an asset.

  • Self-driven with a strong desire to grow professionally

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAdvanced interpersonal skills to work with clients and project teams

  • Proficient in MS Office SuitesValid driver’s license and a personal vehicle to drive to construction sites.
