SUMMARY:

The Sr. Fabrication Supervisor must be detail orientated with a high level of fabrication aptitude relevant to Oil & Gas equipment processes and at least 8 years of work experience in a supervisory capacity. The successful candidate will work with the Clients, Production Leadership Team, Drafting/Engineering, and shop floor employees to coordinate efforts to meet production and client schedules.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in, and drive areas of Production

  • Liaise with Engineering / Design, Supply Chain, Doc Control, Safety, QC, Assembly

  • Drive to mentor Department Supervisors and associated Departments to create a Team environment that fosters open communication and teamwork.

  • Oversee performance management of Department Supervisors

  • Promote Startec Core Values

  • Participate in problem-solving, planning, and scheduling

  • Estimate, and Quote for upcoming projects and applications

  • Communicate resource loading requirements to direct reports.

  • Collaborate with Production Floor Supervisors, employees, and contractors to ensure efficient delivery of project schedules

  • Maintain a safe work environment, complete job hazard assessments, lift assessments, and Safety walks, facilitate inspections and required maintenance

  • Participate in Safety, QC, and all other company programs

  • Attend production, and client-related meetings, providing department updates as required

  • Ability to organize and prioritize in a fast pace environment with shifting priorities

  • Dynamic when it comes to problem-solving, and overcoming obstacles that may threaten our deliverables.

  • Support the development of new procedures

  • Seek out and implement new welding technologies

  • Participate in and drive continuous improvement

    QUALIFICATIONS /REQUIREMENTS:

  • Journeyperson Certificate in related field (Red Seal interprovincial preferred)

  • 12 years of assembly experience packaging in a fabrication shop environment

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of supervisory experience

  • Collaborative team player with positive engagement

  • Good organizational and communication skills; both written and oral

  • Ability to read and interpret all red-line markups and blueprints (Isometrics, P&IDs, G.A.s) 

  • Lean/Continuous improvement experience would be beneficial but not required

  • Working knowledge of the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code as it pertains to our industry
