Your Opportunity

As a member of the Valuation, Planning & Transaction Services team, the Financial Senior Manager, Acquisitions and Valuations is responsible for supporting Stantec’s valuation processes for acquisitions, strategic planning, financial reporting, and tax planning purposes.

This position works closely with and reports to the Vice President, Financial Planning and Valuations to provide accounting support and financial analysis to various operations and functional support teams throughout Stantec.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the strategic and financial alignment of potential engineering and design firm acquisitions using financial models.

  • Collaborate with the acquisition team to identify, quantify and track potential transaction costs and synergies on acquisition opportunities.

  • Assist and advise the Corporate Development department to determine prices for acquisition targets and help present acquisition opportunities to key decision makers.

  • Conduct valuations and related impairment indicator reviews for financial reporting including goodwill, intangible assets, and other long-term assets.

  • Prepare the quarterly fair market valuation of Stantec’s performance share units.

  • Perform valuation work for tax purposes related to reorganizations and restructurings.

  • Support Stantec’s budgeting and forecasting processes by helping to set and communicate expectations and generate required financial analysis and reporting.

  • Contribute to Stantec’s strategic modelling and planning process by compiling forecasts, validating assumptions and constructing sensitivity analysis.

  • Utilize the Bloomberg terminal to compile data and analysis to support various Stantec processes and groups.

  • Ensure compliance with Stantec Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

Your Skills and Capabilities

  • Proficiency in valuation principles and IFRS.

  • Demonstrated ability to construct various discounted cash flow models and present results to diverse audiences.

  • A client-focus in the delivery of services within a fast paced, results-oriented environment.

  • Ability to think strategically with a strong business acumen.

  • A strong work ethic with the ability to interact and work effectively independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to assess priorities, coordinate projects and meet deadlines.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Degree in finance or in another related discipline

  • CPA designation is required

  • A minimum of ten years experience with a minimum of four years post-designation experience in valuation work.

  • Experience in the professional services industry a plus.

  • Work Environment and Physical Demands

Office environment indoor activities are primarily performed in an environmentally controlled office setting or within a home office. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using computer/laptop at workstation and related office equipment. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work.
